JP Pangilinan received the Molten GF7 ball as a gift from his fiance Ms. Ammy Uetani and he quickly got used to it. He said "parang ang sarap magbasketball dahil sa bola, mas gumanda ang shooting ko at ang overall performance ko sa game". Miko Sabado also liked the ball and he said "maganda yung bola, kahit mabasa kamay mo, makapit pa din sa laro". The NY Noks would be using the Molten GF7 basketball with their every game.

A New Name, A New Beginning ...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The Choopuppies management have decided to change the IAC team name. The new name of the newly improved team would be New York Noks. With the New York Knicks being well known for their defense in the 1990's, the New York Noks team added several players to improve the defensive arsenal of the NY Noks team. The team added defensive specialist Roy Rollan from the defending champion Weltchmertz, Pitt Santiago from the full court pressing team Justice League and shot blocker Jopoy Pandaraoan from the Team Atomica to complete the triple tower inside the paint. The New York Noks team have a projected starting line up of all around player Miko Sabado point guard, Choopuppies ace player JP Pangilinan shooting guard, 2004 recruit of the year Rod Coronel small forward, Jopoy Pandaraoan whose game is being compared to Hanamichi Sakuragi of Shohoku at power forward and tower in the middle Raffy Zuniga center. With the addition of Roy Rollan and Pitt Santiago, the NY Noks would now have a deeper bench and better defensive team both the first and second team. With the new additions, the management looks forward to a successful season for the upcoming 2005 - 2006 IAC season. JP Pangilinan said "ngayong mas malakas na kami, we are not just aiming to win games but we are aiming to win the championship, last season na namin toh, and we're planning to leave a legacy of the "Noks" name in the IAC tournament". The name New York Noks came from the 3 on 3 team of JP Pangilinan, Miko Sabado, Rod Coronel and Nok Gammuac which dedicated the name "Nok Nok Mo" to their player Nok Gammuac which has been a great inspiration to the team.

Phase 6A Dynasty in the making (part 6)

With the 6th season of Bad Bulls, the team is gunning for its 6 straight championship. With the Black team's line up intact, they are once again the favorites to win the 2000 Phase 6A Mini Olympics. The season did not go very well for the Black team, as they needed to win their final season game against the White team led by Kim to have identical records with the White team in order to have another knockout match for the finals slot against the White team. The Blue team entered the finals once again with their 4 superstars namely Ryan de Guzman, Rj Pangilinan, Ron and CP Romualdez. The Black team once again had a dilemma, as their leading scorer for the season, Tiki Ilagan will not be able to play due to personal reasons. So the Black team was once again in the hands of JP Pangilinan. The game started ferociously with JP Pangilinan and Kim exchanging basket per basket as the half ended in a deadlock. The second half started with the White team going strong and getting an 8 point lead with 5 minutes to go in the game. JP Pangilinan took over from there, driving in the lane each time to draw Kim's 4th foul. With Kim in foul trouble, JP Pangilinan kept pounding inside to win the game for the Black team to arrange another showdown with the White team for a spot in the finals. JP Pangilinan said "buti na lang nanalo kami kasi kala ko di namin kaya without Tiki nuti na lans nakalusot kami, sa next game nandyan na si Tiki kaya masconfident kami". The knockout match started with Kim once again doing the damage for the White team as he scored at will everytime. With Tiki Ilagan and JP Pangilinan working together, they kept the game close going into halftime. The final half started with the Black team getting a 10 point lead thanks to the JP - Tiki connection. But Kim, with last years finals playoff fresh in his mind, kept driving inside the paint to get the momentum and the lead with a minute remaining. Kim made a defensive stop against Tiki Ilagan in the dying second to win the game by a difference of 2 points to enter their first finals appearance. The Blue team eventually won the finals and received their first championship in 5 straight finals appearance. It proved to be a sweet finals victory for the Blue team as it was Ryan de Guzman's final game for the Phase 6A village. The Bad Bull's legacy ended in 2002 with 6 championships and 3 third place finishes. The Bad Bulls will always be remebered as the team who dominated Phase 6A basketball and made Phase 6A history with the largest winning margin in a single game, the highest individual score a player ever made in a single game and the most championships in the history of Phase 6A.

Phase 6A Dynasty in the making (part 5)

Going into the 5th season of Bad Bulls, the team is gunning for its 5th straight championship. Retaining its 3 main players namely MVP JP Pangilinan, top scorer Tiki Ilagan and shot blocker Juni Antonio, the Black team once again breeze through the regular season games and entered the finals once again with a 7 - 2 record. The Blue team led once again by Ryan de Guzman, RJ Pangilinan, CP Romualdez and newly recruit Ron struggled to enter the finals needing to win a playoff match against the White team led by a new player Kim which had identical records of 6 - 3. Luckily for the Blue team, they were able to escape and win against the White team with the defense of Ron in the middle. Kim scored 40 points in a valiant effort against the White team. The finals was once again Black team versus Blue team in a 4th straight finals match. The Black team had a hard time scoring inside the paint as Ron defended his area tightly and didn't allow shots to come from inside. The Black team tried to keep the game close with 3 pointers and mid range jumpers from all over the floor but the Blue team kept a 12 point margin going into half time. The second half proved to be a different story as Tiki Ilagan led the team into a comeback scoring 10 straight points to cut the lead into 2. JP Pangilinan drove inside the lane and was able to get a foul from Ron which pitted him into foul trouble. With Ron in foul trouble, JP Pangilinan and Tiki Ilagan took advantage of the paint as they drove to the basket on every possession to keep the Blue team at bay with a 6 point lead. On the last 2 minutes of the game, Ryan de Guzman scored 8 straight unanswered points to give them a two point lead with 5 seconds left on the clock. The Blue team had a pre mature celebration expecting the Black team to call a time out but Juni Antonio took the ball out and gave the ball to Tiki Ilagan as he drove down the lane to sink the game winning shot with no time remaining in the clock. The Black team won its 5th straight championship which proved to be a big heartbreaker to the Ryan de Guzman led squad. Ryan de Guzman said after the game "kala ko wala ng oras o kay ay tatawag sila ng time out after my shot, kaya nagcelebrate kami ng teammates ko pero may oras pa pala at di pa sila nagtime out". Tiki Ilagan said "nakita kong nagkakagulo sila dun at alam kong may oras pa kaya pinalabas ko yung bola kay Juni at ni lay up ko at the last second". JP said "it might be the most controversial championship we won, but we'll take it, mistake nila yun kaya we took advantage". The refs finalize the game and awarded the match to the Black team depite Blue team's protest.

Phase 6A Dynasty in the making (part 4)

On the 4th season of Bad Bulls, the Black team still had their line up intact but they got into a slow start, losing 3 of their first 4 games of the season. On the remaining 5 games of the season, the Black team zoomed in and won their remaining 5 games to put them in the finals once again against the Blue team being led by Ryan de Guzman, RJ Pangilinan and newly recruit CP Romualdez. The finals became a personal battle between JP Pangilinan and CP Romualdez as JP Pangilinan kept on pounding inside the paint against CP Romualdez as he scored 32 points in the finals while holding CP Romualdez to measly 5 points on the defensive side. The game came down to the last shot as Ryan de Guzman tied the game with 8 ticks left. The ball went into the hands of JP Pangilinan for the last shot for the Black team as he made a spin move to get away from his defender and he had a wide open look to the basket but he missed the open lay up. JP Pangilinan said "iniisip ko kase nung pag-ikot kung iboboard ring ko yung lay up ko o ififinger roll ko kaya yun namintis ko tuloy". The game went into overtime with Tiki Ilagan taking over and sealing the game with his clutch free throws. Tiki Ilagan contributed 22 points for the Black team as they've won 4 straight championships and beating the Blue team 3 straight times in the finals. JP Pangilinan said after the game "I tried to keep my cool against CP pero personal na kasi yung laban kaya di ko siya pinascore at umiscore ako ng umiscore sa harapan niya". Ryan de Guzman gave a valiant effort for his Blue team with 42 points which has been denied 3 times in the finals.

Phase 6A Dynasty in the making (part 3)

The 3rd season of Bad Bulls was a bit harder, the Black team composed of JP Pangilinan, Tiki Ilagan and Juni Antonio finished the season with a win - loss record of 6 - 3 which were identical to the season record of Red Team led by Johannes Quiban, Jason de Jesus and CP Romualdez. The Blue team led by Ryan de Guzman and RJ Panglinan finished the season with 7 - 2 win - loss record putting them in the championship. A knock out match was scheduled between the Black and Red team. The Red team started the match by being aggressive on offense being led by Johannes Quiban's series of attack under the basket which pitted Juni Antonio into foul trouble which gave them a 10 point lead ending the first half. In the second half, JP Pangilinan and Tiki Ilagan's 1 - 2 punch combined for 30 points with JP Pangilinan's jumpers all over the floor and Tiki Ilagan's 3 pointers, the Black team came back and took the lead for good. Johannes Quiban led all scorers with 40 points for the Red team while JP Pangilinan and Tiki Ilagan both scored 32 points for the Black team which arranged another showdown between the Blue team and Black team in the finals. Ryan de Guzman and RJ Pangilinan sizzled in the first half of the finals to give their team an 8 point advantage going into halftime. In the second half, JP Pangilinan and Tiki Ilagan came back and quickly gained advantage of the ball game. Ryan de Guzman tried to carry his team by keeping the game close with his high flying maneuvers inside the paint. But with the game on the line, Tiki Ilagan sank a 3 pointer on the right side to give the Black team a 3 point lead with 30 seconds left in the game. Ryan de Guzman once again attacked the basket with a quick 2 point to cut the lead into 1. But Tiki Ilagan held on to the ball in the dying seconds and knocked down 2 clutch free throws to win the championship for the Black team. JP Pangilinan said "this is our 3rd championship and is certainly the sweetest one, from almost being knocked out of the championship match but still coming back and winning everything". JP Pangilinan took home MVP honors on one of the closest MVP race in Ph6A history between JP Pangilinan, Tiki Ilagan and Ryan de Guzman. Tiki Ilagan said after the awarding ceremony "alam kong deserving si JP maging MVP dahil consistent yung mga laro niya nung season elimination at nadala niya yung team nung mga panahon na di ako nakapaglaro, kaya i'm happy for my best friend". This was the first 3 peat in the history of Ph6A.

Phase 6A Dynasty in the making (part 2)

The next season, JP Pangilinan and Tiki Ilagan transferred to the Black team to join Juni Antonio as their tower in the middle. The Black team finished the 1996 season with a 7 - 2 record and once again Tiki Ilagan led everybody in scoring with a 32 point scoring average for the season. The finals was set with a showdown between the Black team and Blue team led by Ryan de Guzman and RJ Pangilinan. An unfortunate event plagued the Black team 2 days before the finals as their star player and leading scorer Tiki Ilagan went on a vacation with his family to the US which left JP Pangilinan to carry the team in his shoulders. The finals started with the Blue team shooting the lights out of the Black team with a 21 point lead ending the 1st half. But the 2nd half was a totally different story with JP Pangilinan shooting 7 straight 3 pointers and with Juni Antonio blocking every shot that came into the lane, the Black team was able to catch up and take the lead with Black team role player Solomon hitting a desperation 3 with the shot clock winding down. Blue team was able to tie the game with Blue team role player Chad denying JP Pangilinan the ball and with RJ Pangilinan and Ryan de Guzman doing the offensive damage. The game came down to the last shot with JP Pangilinan driving in the lane in the last 3 seconds of the game with a foul counted shot over Chad. JP Pangilinan was hitted in the face which reacted violently after falling down. JP Pangilinan kept his composure and knocked down the extra charity to finish the game. JP Pangilinan had a captivating performance with 81 points which was highlighted by his 7 straight 3 pointers in the second half which capped the most spectacular comeback in Phase 6A history and the highest individual scoring performance in Phase 6A surpassing the 79 points set by Mark dela Cruz from the previous season.

Choopuppies Reloaded gets 1st win!!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

After 15 straight set backs, dating back from the previous IAC basketball season, the Choopuppies Reloaded formerly known as Choopuppies from previous year, has finally broken its losing streak. The Choopuppies Reloaded team together with newly recruit Rod Coronel (IV BS ECE) has finally won its first game. With the 2004 - 2005 IAC Championship season hanging in the balance, the Pangilinan lead squad never looked back as they never trailed the ball game against Team UY, a team mostly composed of third year students. JP Pangilinan (IV BS ECE) led all scorers with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals for the Choopuppies Reloaded while Rod Coronel took care of the rebounding department with an astounding 20 rebounds to go along with 6 points, 3 steals and 3 blocks and Miko Sabado (IV BS ECE) controlled the game with his usual all around play with 3 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block. The final tally was 35 - 28. Team UY gave Choopuppies Reloaded a scare when it came back in the 4th quarter with 6 straight unanswered points from their star player but fortunately for Choopuppies Reloaded JP Pangilinan held his nerve and came back with a heartbreaking 3 pointer which pulled the game away from Team UY. JP Pangilinan said after the game "alam kong kami yung underdog going into this game kaya binigay ko na lahat lahat at swerte namin ay nanalo kami". Playing coach and point guard Miko Sabado said "ito na ang confidence booster namin going into next season, sana magtuloy-tuloy na toh, alam ko naman na kaya namin manalo". Choopuppies Reloaded is the number 80 seed in a tournament composed of 82 teams and their opponent Team UY is one of the top 64 teams which was highly favored to win. With the win, Choopuppies Reloaded moves to the final 64 were they will face the Sophomores Champion squad.

Choopuppies Reloaded Ends its season in the Final 64...

After tasting victory, the Choopuppies Reloaded team were in cloud 9 but in the final 64, Choopuppies Reloaded fell back to earth and had to face reality once again. Up against the sophomore's division champion, the odds were once again stacked up against the Choopuppies Reloaded team. The Choopuppies Reloaded team coming from a victory against Team UY fell out of steam against the sophomore champs. Proving to be too much for the Choopuppies Reloaded, the sophomores were always ahead of the game for the entire game. Choopuppies Reloaded kept the game closed for the first 3 quarters but when it counted most, the sophomores pulled away in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. JP Pangilinan (IV BS ECE) engaged in a shoot out with the Sophomore's MVP in the 3rd quarter which was very memorable. JP Pangilinan said "i was feeling it in the 3rd quarter, i felt like i can't miss, every shot i fired seems to have found the basket everytime, but i salute the sophomore's MVP for matching up with my shots, kala ko kaya namin pero nabitin kami sa huli". The sophomore's defense in the 4th quarter proved to be too much for the Choopuppies Reloaded as they stole ball after ball in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. The sophomores used a half court press that Choopuppies had no answers to. JP Pangilinan led all scorers with 30 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Rod Coronel (IV BS ECE) once again took care of the boards with 16 rebounds to go along with 8 points and 5 steals while Miko Sabado had an all around game once again with 2 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Miko Sabado said "this was another learning experience for us, babalik kami next year, and next year we will be a much stronger team". Choopuppies Management has plans to drop the Choopuppies franchise name and plans to rebuild from scratch. Choopuppies would be entering an early summer training camp and plans to add defensive specialists Roy Rollan formerly from Seniors champion Weltchmertz, Pitt Santiago from Justice League team which is a defense oriented team and Jopoy Pandaraoan from team Atomica. With these additions, the Choopuppies team will have a deeper bench, have a triple tower inside the paint and will become a more defense oriented team. "Offense wins games but defense wins championships".

Basketball Ideals
Basketball is synonymous to the name Michael Jordan. He has been the standards of excellence in basketball. Even though he makes mistakes, these were all overshadowed by his accomplishments like MVP’s, scoring titles, championships and a lot more. Everyone who plays basketball knows his name and even after his retirement he is still well known with the name of basketball. Every good player that played in the National Basketball Association was compared to him even in other countries like China, Japan and especially our country the Philippines we have our own version of Michael Jordan in our country. He was like the “ideal” player to be if you want to make it big time in basketball. Every new player that came in the NBA and dominated the game has been regarded as the next Michael Jordan but after a while that player fails to live up to the expectation of becoming the next Michael Jordan.
In philosophy, there are ideals like ideal concretized and deontological. Plato used Socrates as a person of ideal concretized or an “ideal person”. Just like in basketball, Michael Jordan has now been the basis of an “ideal basketball player”. What makes him ideal? Well, he was known to have a flawless game in other words perfect. He was the complete package in basketball. So a concept of a basketball player has always been compared to him skill wise and talent wise. It’s like everything he said about basketball were correct. A good basketball player must always have his skills which have now become the standard of basketball “a great basketball player is someone who is like Michael Jordan the ideal player”. He is ideal because we think everything he does in basketball is right. It’s like a shuttle maker making a shuttle, before he makes another shuttle, he looks at the shuttles he made before which were molded as ideal shuttles.
Ideal deontological is the view that morality either forbids or permits actions, which is done through moral norms. Simply put, the correctness of an action lies within itself, not in the consequences of the action. An example is lying, lying is bad but it can be neutral if it produces good consequences. Another example is giving money to street children it is a good deed although it is not encouraged because some street children uses it for drugs or for some other bad things. It is also the same in basketball, we know committing fouls in basketball is like a mistake for coaches but there are situations in a game wherein you need to foul a player which equates to a good result. Being too physical in basketball tends to hurt a player which is considered bad but sometimes you need to become physical especially when getting the rebounds which will give good results for the team.
Concrete ideal is important in the moral world because it gives a guide for people to follow. It like an “ideal” law which the people will mold themselves into becoming a good Christian.
